Our Half Day Thai Cooking Class: A Perfect Morning or Afternoon in Chiang Mai

The half day Thai cooking class at Charm Thai Cooking runs for 4 to 5 hours and is available as both a morning cooking class in Chiang Mai and an afternoon Thai cooking class in Chiang Mai. You will prepare 6 to 7 traditional Thai dishes during the session, including homemade curry paste, soup, a stir fry, dessert, and more. The class wraps up with a shared meal where you sit down together and enjoy everything you cooked. It is one of the most rewarding ways to spend a few hours while visiting Chiang Mai.

"Taste the real Thailand. Cook it yourself, take the skills home forever."

An Authentic Thai Cooking Built Around You

Charm Thai Cooking is a small, family-run kitchen in Chiang Mai, not a large commercial school. Classes are open to all skill levels, vegetarian and vegan requirements are accommodated, and children under 10 join free. Every session ends with a shared meal at the table, and it is genuinely one of the best parts of the whole day.

Why Choose Charm Thai

A Genuine Home Kitchen Setting

You are not in a hotel demonstration kitchen or a large tourist facility. You cook in a real Thai home kitchen, which means the atmosphere is warm, relaxed, and completely authentic.

Maximum 6 Students Per Class

Every class is kept deliberately small so that your instructor can spend proper time with you. This is not a conveyor belt experience. You cook, you learn, and you get real feedback.

Experienced, Passionate Instructors

Our teachers have years of experience cooking and teaching traditional Thai cuisine. They are patient, friendly, and genuinely excited to share what they know with every guest.

Recipes You Can Actually Use at Home

We focus on dishes that are achievable in a standard home kitchen anywhere in the world. The skills and recipes you learn here do not stay in Thailand. They go home with you.

Fresh Organic Ingredients

Many of the herbs and vegetables used in class come from our own garden. Everything else is sourced fresh from local markets each day. You will taste the difference from the first bite.

Frequently Asked Questions

No experience is needed at all. Our half day Thai cooking class welcomes complete beginners and more experienced cooks equally. Your instructor will guide you through every step at a comfortable pace, and the small class size means you will never feel rushed or overlooked.

Both sessions cover the same recipes and run for the same length of time. The main difference is timing. The morning class starts earlier in the day and can be combined with a market tour. The afternoon class is a great option if you prefer a later start or want to keep your morning free for other activities.

Yes, absolutely. We are happy to accommodate vegetarian and vegan requirements. Please let us know at the time of booking so that your instructor can prepare suitable ingredients and adapt the recipes accordingly. We want everyone to enjoy the full cooking experience.

The market tour is available as an optional addition rather than being automatically included. It takes place before the main class begins and involves a visit to a local fresh market where you can explore the herbs, produce, and ingredients used in Thai cooking. Ask us about adding it when you book.

You will prepare around 4 to 5 dishes in total, which typically include a homemade curry paste, a Thai curry, a soup such as Tom Yum or Tom Kha, a stir fry or noodle dish, an appetizer, and a dessert such as mango with sticky rice. The exact menu can vary slightly by session, and we are happy to share more details when you get in touch.
